A Comprehensive Project; A Seamless Client Experience.
From the start, we had the pleasure of working with our detailed landscape plan that highlighted the natural hardscape of the property, while upgrading the overall living space. What was once a cramped rear yard bordered by large, sloping rock, has become a destination outdoor living space, featuring a gorgeous and modern pool with surrounded natural stone focal points, illuminated walkways with subtle detail, calming fire pit space and open yard for children and pets to enjoy. Our mission on the project: Maximize the client's return on investment and minimize project stress on the client. How? By protecting landscape installations with smart and well-designed irrigation, creating a nighttime outdoor experience using thoughtful and purposeful lighting, and transforming the space using immersive sound that engages the senses, all with a single point of contact.
Blending Natural and Supernatural
There are no better projects than when you have natural landscape as your canvas. With this particular project, we were inspired by the majesty of rock outcropping bordering the property, contrasted against the sheer size of the perimeter oaks on the outer perimeter of the space. We took measures to ensure the right beam spread, angles and temperature would highlight the natural color and texture of the pieces, all while providing a natural (as opposed to artificial) backdrop for our clients to enjoy day and night.
Pathways and Destinations: Pool Area
To ensure our clients could take full advantage of the size of the rear space, we identified sub-spaces (or sections) that will be come the destinations of their outdoor experience. The clearest was the pool, which along with its patio, was a destination in itself. The vicinity to the hot-tub allowed for seamless transition from fun in the pool to relaxing in the tub. The space was kept open for this very reason, with the connecting walkways highlighted at night. What is more, we integrated a Klipsch sound system to his existing Sonos system and set up an outdoor WiFi access point, all to ensure our client and his guests can enjoy an immersive sound scape no matter what the mood.
Pathways and Destinations: Fire Pit
We decided to keep the fire pit as a separate destination, given that our client had communicated how he often comes out to the fire pit at night to enjoy a beer and listen to music. Since the seating can be adjusted to face towards the pool or away towards the natural surrounding, we found it appropriate to ensure a view for our client and his guests no matter which way they faced.
Pathways and Destinations: Patio
Another clear destination was the rear patio, which can be accessed by floor-to-ceiling, glass sliding doors from the home itself, as well as stone walkways around the home. It was important to provide security for our client and his guests as they make their way to the patio, while still highlighting the natural beauty of the landscape along the way. Furthermore, it was important that the clients enjoying the patio had a view to enjoy and discuss. For the patio itself, we made sure to highlight the centerpiece bar and grill hardscape without glare in the eyes of our guests, as well as install a separate but integrated Klipsch sound system into the client's existing Sonos system.
